The members of the Rotary Club of Coconut Creek are very active in the community. Our Adopt A Highway program has been cleaning up litter from a 2 mile stretch of 441 since 2014. We participate quarterly and have to date (2018) removed over a half ton of debris and garbage from the roadside thus making our region safer, cleaner and better to live in. We sponsor a Rotaract Club (Rotary for High School students) and they have taken part and assisted us in this project.
We have donated a new industrial grade washing machine for the local charity In Jacobs Shoes They recycle used tennis and running shoes and give them to children in need. Not only have we donated the new machine, but our Club has done Service Projects where our members cleaned the shoes by hand to prepare for the machine washing and helped distribute the shoes to the school aged children working in conjunction with Broward School’s.
One of the funnest events that our club hosts annually is our First Responders BBQ. For that Event we hold a cook-out at a local firehouse and feed not only the firemen but police officers as well. Giving back to our community is in our blood and is especially rewarding.
A project of special significance is our work with Youth and Rotary Youth Exchange Students. Our club has hosted multiple international students as well as sponsored local kids to travel abroad as part of the R.Y.E. program.
